Unrestrained Driver Killed by Suspected Drunk Driver in Weekend Crash St. James – A two-vehicle crash claimed the life of an unrestrained driver Thursday, September 23, 2010 on US 61 south of Interstate 10 in St. James Parish. Troopers’ investigation revealed that Arnold Keller (B/M, age 46) of Darrow was driving a 2010 Lexus north on US 61 at a high rate of speed when he struck the rear of a northbound 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche and ran it off the road. The pickup, being driven by Milton Norman (B/M, age 53) of Geismar, ran off the roadway to the right, struck a tree on the driver’s side door and came to rest in the swamp. Norman was not restrained and suffered fatal injuries in the crash. Keller was properly restrained and sustained moderate injuries in the crash. Acadian Ambulance transported Keller to the St. James Hospital and then to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge. Troopers suspect that Keller was impaired at the time of the crash. Samples of both drivers’ blood have been submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis. Troopers have charged Keller with DWI, Reckless Operation, and Vehicular Homicide and booked him into the St. James Parish Prison. Contact Information: TFC Russell G.
