Troopers Make Several Arrests Following Traffic Stops Baton Rouge – Over the past two days, Troopers working patrol in the Troop A area have arrested six individuals and removed nearly ten pounds of marijuana and several hundred Ecstasy and Xanax pills from the streets. Troopers continually patrol our Interstate and highway systems throughout the state and frequently keep large quantities of illegal drugs from having a terribly negative effect on our society. On February 9, 2011 at approximately 2:45 am, Troopers stopped two vehicles (Pontiac Grand Prix and Nissan Altima) for traffic violations on Interstate 10 in West Baton Rouge Parish. During both stops, Troopers were given consent to search the vehicles. During the search of the Pontiac, Troopers discovered approximately 4,000 Ecstasy pills and four pounds of Marijuana. Troopers’ further investigation revealed that the two vehicles were traveling together and headed into Baton Rouge. The occupants of both vehicles were arrested and booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Detention Center on charges of possession with intent to distribute Schedule I drugs. - Nicole Macal (W/F, age 26) of Houston, TX – driver of Pontiac - ReyJene Hatter (B/F, age 23) of Houston, TX – passenger in Pontiac - Eldridge Brown (B/M, age 25) of New Orleans – driver of Nissan - Dwayne Smith (B/M, age 20) of New Orleans – passenger in Nissan On February 10, 2011 at approximately 5:00 am, a Trooper stopped a 2010 Chevrolet Aveo on Interstate 10 in West Baton Rouge Parish. During the traffic stop, a State Police K-9 alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle. Troopers then searched the vehicle and discovered approximately five pounds of marijuana in the trunk. The driver, Tyronne Williams (B/M, age 57) of New Orleans, was arrested and booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Detention Center on charges of possession with intent to distribute Schedule I drugs. On February 10, 2011 shortly before 9:00 pm, a Trooper stopped a 2010 Dodge Caravan on Interstate 10 for a traffic violation in West Baton Rouge Parish. During the traffic stop, a State Police K-9 alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle. Troopers then searched the vehicle and discovered five plastic bags containing approximately 500 Xanax pills. During the investigation, Troopers learned that the driver, Broderick Magee (B/M, age 26) of Baton Rouge, had active warrants for his arrest from Texas and Louisiana. Magee was booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Detention Center on charges of possession with intent to distribute Schedule I drugs, driving under suspension, and improper lane use. Magee is being held in the jail on the warrants from other jurisdictions pending a hearing. Contact Information: TFC Russell G.
