Gonzales Man Killed in Sunday Morning Crash Baton Rouge – Louisiana State Police Troop A investigated a fatal crash this morning shortly after 7:00 am on Highland Road north of Interstate 10. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2003 Toyota Highlander was traveling north on Highland Road when a 2008 BMW 335, traveling south on Highland Road, pulled into its path. The BMW, being driven by Peter Moore (W/M, age 42) of Baton Rouge, sideswiped the Toyota, being driven by Katherine Trahan (W/F, age 51) of Baton Rouge. Moore was attempting to make a left turn from Highland Road into the Healing Place Church Parking Lot when he pulled into the Toyota’s path. The Toyota then ran off the road to the right and struck Jordan Gautreau (W/M, age 22) of Gonzales. Gautreau was standing on the east edge of the roadway installing a sign for Healing Place Church when he was struck by the Toyota. The East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office pronounced Gautreau deceased on the scene. Troopers do not suspect impairment to have played a factor in the crash. However, both drivers have submitted breath samples to the Intoxilyzer 5000, which showed no detectable alcohol in their systems. Troopers have also submitted a sample of Gautreau’s blood to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis. Troopers have charged Moore with failure to yield. The crash remains under investigation, and additional charges may be forthcoming. Contact Information: TFC Russell G.
