Traffic Stop Leads to Discovery of Marijuana Baton Rouge – Troopers initiated a traffic stop Monday night that led to the discovery of approximately five pounds of marijuana and the arrest of a Covington man. Shortly before 11:00 p.m. on November 8, 2010, Patrick Alexander (B/M, age 39) of Covington was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado on Interstate 10 eastbound at milepost 149 in West Baton Rouge Parish when he was stopped for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, Troopers became suspicious of Alexander and the Louisiana State Police K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. Troopers subsequently searched the vehicle and discovered approximately five pounds of marijuana on the back seat of the truck, shrink-wrapped in plastic wrapping. Troopers arrested Alexander and booked him into the West Baton Rouge Parish Detention Center on charges of manufacture/distribution of schedule 1 drugs and improper lane usage.
