Edmonson, Superintendent HEADQUARTERS- NEWS RELEASE Fraudulent Insurance Claims Leads to Arrest of Inmate BATON ROUGE- Louisiana State Police detectives with the Insurance Fraud/Auto Theft Unit arrested a former Baton Rouge resident for Insurance Fraud and Felony Theft after receiving a complaint from GEICO Insurance Company. On December 6, 2010, State Police detectives arrested Darryl Brady (B/M; 52 yrs old) after learning that from November 2007 to March 2010, Brady filed seven property damage claims on his 1995 Corvette with GEICO Insurance Company. The investigation found that six of those claims were fraudulent and were for the same damage each time the claims were made. GEICO issued settlement checks for four of the six fraudulent claims, for a total settlement of $9,462.00. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Brady in East Baton Rouge Parish. It was discovered that Brady had been recently convicted in Jefferson Parish for a previous criminal offense and was incarcerated as a D.O.C. inmate in the Avoyelles Parish Jail. The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office transported Brady to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison so he could be booked for four counts of Felony Theft and six counts of Insurance Fraud.
