Single-Vehicle Crash in Livingston Parish Leads to Fatality DENHAM SPRINGS- Louisiana State Police-Troop A investigated a single-vehicle crash in Livingston Parish last night that claimed the life of a Denham Springs man. At approximately 10:27 pm on Wednesday, December 8, 2010, a 2001 GMC Sierra truck, driven by Seth A. Hunter (W/M, 22 yrs old) was traveling southbound on LA Hwy 16, south of LA Hwy 1033. For unknown reasons, the GMC ran off the right side of the roadway. The driver attempted to steer back on to the roadway but over-corrected, causing him to cross the on-coming lane of travel and run off the left side of the roadway. Hunter’s vehicle then struck several trees, causing him fatal injuries. Hunter was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. Speed and alcohol use are suspected to be factors in this crash. Blood was drawn from the driver and will be submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis. As the holidays get closer, the Louisiana State Police is reminding drivers about the dangers of impaired driving. If you are celebrating the holidays by consuming alcohol, have a designated driver or just stay home. Troopers will be concentrating on impaired and dangerous drivers over the next few weeks with extra patrols and DWI checkpoints to ensure the safety of our citizens as they travel to their holiday destinations.
