Manhunt for Trustees Continues in Jackson, Tennessee Baton Rouge – Louisiana State Troopers are currently working in Tennessee with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force to locate the two trustees who escaped from Baton Rouge on Friday, March 4, 2011. The last time 36-year-old Ricky Wedgeworth and 33-year-old Darian “Drake” Pierce were spotted was in Jackson, TN last night after a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper pulled over a stolen rental vehicle out of Vicksburg, MS near mile marker 84 along I-40 and the two escapees fled on foot. Officers with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Jackson Police Department and Madison County Sheriff’s Office pursued the fugitives on foot and have been searching for them in the Jackson, TN area all night with the TBI and US Marshals. Louisiana State Troopers arrived earlier this morning to assist with the search. Troopers have also travelled to Vicksburg, MS to assist the Vicksburg Police Department with the investigation into the stolen rental vehicle. On Monday, an Ohio woman filed a missing person report with the Vicksburg Police Department. The Ohio man who rented the vehicle remains missing and authorities are investigating and exhausting all leads from Vicksburg, MS to Jackson, TN. “Locating and apprehending the two trustees continues to be a priority," said Colonel Mike Edmonson, State Police Superintendent. "Just as important are our efforts to locate the missing gentleman from Ohio. We are certainly concerned about his well-being and we have committed all necessary resources to the search. The Louisiana State Police currently has Troopers on scene and working with authorities in Mississippi and Tennessee.” State Police Detectives continue to follow up on leads and conduct interviews throughout the state and region. An administrative investigation into the events leading up to the escape is also underway. The administration is looking into the current policies that are in place and whether those policies were followed in this case.
