| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent Troop A – News Release
Head-On Collision Claims Life of Holden Woman Walker – Louisiana State Police Troop A investigated a two-vehicle crash last night in Livingston Parish that claimed the life of a Holden woman. The crash occurred shortly before 7:00 pm on LA 447 south of Interstate 12, and the roadway remained closed to traffic for almost two hours while Troopers investigated and crews removed the vehicles. Preliminary investigation of the crash revealed that a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier, being driven by Trudy Hebert (W/F, age 50) of Holden, was traveling south on LA 447 just north of LA 16 when it crossed the center line into oncoming traffic after entering a right-hand curve. The Cavalier struck a 1987 GMC single-unit truck (type of truck designed to move mobile homes) head on in the northbound lane. After the collision, the GMC truck pushed the Cavalier backwards and off the road into the ditch along the west edge of the roadway. The Cavalier, while rotating counter-clockwise, began to roll over onto its roof. The GMC came to rest upright, partially on top of the Cavalier, which came to rest on its roof in the ditch. Hebert sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office. The driver of the GMC, Richard McManus (W/M, age 57) of Denham Springs, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at a local hospital. Troopers do not suspect impairment to have played a factor in this crash. However, Troopers have submitted blood samples of both drivers to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis. No charges are expected to be filed, and the crash remains under investigation. Contact Information: | |||
