Single-Vehicle Crash Claims Life of Abbeville Man False River – Louisiana State Police Troop A investigated a single-vehicle crash this morning shortly after 2:00 am in Pointe Coupee Parish. Troopers’ preliminary investigation revealed that Kent Nunez (W/M, age 32) of Abbeville was driving a 2007 Ford pickup south on LA 413 approaching LA 414 when the pickup crossed the center line and ran off the road to the left. The pickup travelled through the ditch along edge of the roadway, became airborne, and then struck a tree with its left front fender. Nunez sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Pointe Coupee Parish Coroner’s Office. Troopers do not suspect impairment to have played a factor in the crash. However, they have submitted a sample of his blood to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis. At this time, it is unknown why the pickup ran off the roadway, and the crash remains under investigation. Contact Information: TFC Russell G.
