TROOP A NEWS RELEASE
September 12, 2013
Troop A to Host 6th Annual Public Safety Expo

Baton Rouge – Louisiana State Police Troop A will be hosting its 6th Annual “Troop A Day” on Sunday, September 15, from 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm. This will be a fun-filled, family oriented, health and safety awareness event provided free of charge to the public. The event will be held at the Blue Bayou Waterpark overflow parking lot on the corner of Highland Road and Interstate 10. There will be free food and drinks, live music, and plenty of activities for kids of all ages.

Each year, “Troop A Day” has grown with the help of sponsors and partners throughout the Greater Baton Rouge Area. This successful event has been made possible largely due to the generous support of Blue Bayou Waterpark, ExxonMobil Pipeline, Coca-Cola, Custom Security Systems, Bounce n’ Around Inflatables, Blue Bell Ice Cream, Louisiana Trooper Foundation, and many others. Troop A has partnered with local and state agencies to bring the health and safety message to people of all ages, ranging from car seat safety to elderly affairs. Health screenings, cancer awareness information, fire hazard houses, helicopters, disaster recovery information, ladder trucks, patrol boats, motorcycle demonstrations, K9 exhibitions and interactive children’s games are just some of the many activities that will be offered.

“We are excited about this year’s event, as we expect this one to be the largest yet. We appreciate our community partners and emergency responders that will make this a true Public Safety Expo. This year’s event should have something for all ages to enjoy and learn about” said Captain William Davis, Troop A Commander. “We encourage the public to come out, enjoy a day with the family, and take advantage of this free event and valuable information,” Captain Davis added.

Troopers would like to take this opportunity to extend an open invitation to the public and to the media to come out and enjoy the festivities on Sunday, September 15, from 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm. “Troop A Day” has grown bigger and better each year, and Troopers are looking forward to yet another great event this year.

**All media outlets are invited and encouraged to attend.**
