TROOP A NEWS RELEASE November 12, 2013 Speeding Violation Leads to Underage DWI / Possession of Marijuana Arrest Baton Rouge – Shortly after 11:45 pm on November 11, 2013, a Trooper stopped an eastbound 2014 Chevrolet Malibu on LA Hwy 42 (Burbank Dr.) west of Staring Ln. in Baton Rouge for a speeding violation. Once the Trooper exited his vehicle, the suspect (Jordan E. Winding, B/M, DOB 10/31/1993) fled the scene and continued traveling eastbound on Burbank Dr. The Trooper gave a brief pursuit into the Gardere area where Winding stopped his vehicle on GSRI Ave. near Jasper Ave. and attempted to flee on foot. The Trooper was able to apprehend Winding before he entered into an apartment building. Once the Trooper placed Winding under arrest, he detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath. The Trooper also discovered that Winding was carrying several grams of marijuana in his pocket. Despite the fact that he refused to provide a proper toxicology sample to determine his blood alcohol content, Winding was placed under arrest for Underage driving under the influence. He was also arrested for Speeding, Aggravated flight from an officer, and Possession of Schedule 1 narcotic – Marijuana. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on the above listed charges. Louisiana State Troopers will remain dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of the people in the state. Troopers will continue to enforce Louisiana’s DWI laws across the state and remain committed to a public education campaign to end impaired driving.
