TROOP A NEWS RELEASE November 25, 2013 Unrestrained Driver Killed in West Feliciana Parish Fatal Crash St. Francisville – Shortly before 8:30 am on November 25, 2013, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred on LA Hwy 10 east of US Hwy 61 in West Feliciana Parish. The crash took the life of 31 year old Kimberly M. Mahoney of Transylvania, LA. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Mahoney was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer westbound on LA Hwy 10. For unknown reasons, Mahoney’s Trailblazer ran off the roadway to the right. Mahoney overcorrected, causing her vehicle to then leave the roadway to the left where it struck several trees. Mahoney was unrestrained at the time of the crash. She was ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries as a result. Impairment is unknown at this time; however, a toxicology sample was taken from Mahoney and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists of the importance of seatbelt use. Louisiana law requires that every person in a motor vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Statistics show that the chances of surviving a violent crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Taking the time to buckle up before every trip is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash. Contact Information: | |||
