TROOP A NEWS RELEASE March 23, 2014 Springfield Man Killed in Livingston Parish Fatal Crash Albany – Shortly after 9:30 pm on March 23, 2014, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred on LA Hwy 43 north of LA Hwy 442 in Livingston Parish. The crash took the life of 72 year old Roy W. Davenport, Sr. of Springfield. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Davenport was driving a 1995 Ford F-150 northbound on LA Hwy 43. For unknown reasons Davenport’s Ford ran off the roadway to the right. He briefly regained control before running off the roadway to the right a second time. Davenport overcorrected causing his vehicle to then exit the roadway to the left where it overturned. Davenport was unrestrained and was ejected from the vehicle. He suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Driver impairment is not suspected at this time; however, a toxicology sample was taken from Davenport and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists of the importance of seatbelt use. Louisiana law requires that every person in a motor vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Statistics show that the chances of surviving a violent crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Taking the time to buckle up before every trip is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash. Contact Information: | |||
