TROOP A NEWS RELEASE February 4, 2014 Unrestrained Driver Killed in Iberville Parish Fatal Crash Plaquemine – Shortly before 7:00 pm on February 4, 2014, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred on LA Hwy 75 at Bayou Sorrel in Iberville Parish. The crash took the life of 34 year old Matthew G. Allen of Plaquemine. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Allen was driving a 2001 Ford F-150 northbound on LA Hwy 75. For unknown reasons Allen’s vehicle ran off the roadway to the right. Upon leaving the roadway the Ford struck a driveway and flipped several times. Allen was unrestrained and suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Driver impairment is unknown at this time; however, a toxicology sample was taken from Allen and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists of the importance of seatbelt use. Louisiana law requires that every person in a motor vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Statistics show that the chances of surviving a violent crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Taking the time to buckle up before every trip is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash. Contact Information: | |||
