The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Infinger was riding a 2007 Buell motorcycle westbound on LA Hwy 63. At the same time 35 year old Eric R. France, also of Walker, was driving a 2012 Chevrolet pickup eastbound on LA Hwy 63. France was attempting to make a left turn off of LA Hwy 63, and turned directly into the path of Infinger. Infinger laid his motorcycle down on its side in an attempt to avoid striking the Chevrolet. Infinger was unable to stop, and the Buell motorcycle struck the passenger side of France’s Chevrolet.

Infinger was ejected from the motorcycle, and despite the fact that he was wearing a helmet he sustained serious injuries from the crash. He was transported from the scene to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge where he later succumbed to his injuries. Impairment on the part of both drivers is not suspected. This crash remains under investigation, and charges may be pending.

Troopers would like to remind motorists to safely "share the road" with motorcycles and to remain alert to help keep motorcyclists safe. Motorists should always be aware of their surroundings while driving by constantly scanning the roadways of approaching vehicles. Troopers also urge the public to remain vigilant while driving, never drive while fatigued or impaired, and avoid distracting activities, especially the temptations of electronic devices that can substantially divert a driver’s attention away from the road.
