TROOP A NEWS RELEASE
November 4, 2012

Baton Rouge – Louisiana State Police Troop A hosted its 5th Annual “Troop A Day” on Sunday, November 4, from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. This was a fun-filled, family-oriented, health and safety awareness event provided free of charge to the public. The event was held at the Blue Bayou Waterpark overflow parking lot on the corner of Highland Road and Interstate 10. There was free food and drinks, live music, and plenty of activities for kids of all ages.

Each year, “Troop A Day” has grown with the help of sponsors and partners throughout the Greater Baton Rouge Area. This year’s successful event was made possible largely due to the generous support of sponsors such as ExxonMobil Pipeline, Blue Bayou Waterpark, Coca-Cola, Bounce n’ Around Inflatables, and many others. Troop A collaborated with federal, state, and local agencies to bring health and safety messages to people of all ages, ranging from car seat safety to elderly affairs. Health screenings, cancer awareness information, ladder trucks, patrol boats, and interactive children’s games were just some of the many activities offered by Troopers and various agencies from the area.

Troopers would like to take this opportunity to extend a heartfelt “thank you” to the public, our sponsors, and numerous agencies who braved inclement weather to come out, enjoy the festivities, and make this event possible. A special thank you goes to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office and K-Pod Catering for providing food and to Dale Sellars and Backroads Band for providing live entertainment. “Troop A Day” has grown bigger and better each year and Troopers are looking forward to an even more impressive event next year.
