LSP to Provide Support at New DSNAP Sites

Baton Rouge – The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) has requested the assistance of the Louisiana State Police for security and operational support at the new Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (DSNAP) sites, scheduled to open Monday morning at 6:00 am. Troopers have been working with DCFS personnel to ensure a smooth functioning operation from start to finish. Several agencies have been working together daily in support of the operation. The sites are scheduled to remain open through the week. Site hours are from 6:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. each day, and the individual site locations are listed below.

      14740 Plank Road, Baker
    · Healing Place Church
      19202 Highland Road, Baton Rouge
    · Sam’s Club
      7685 Airline Highway, Baton Rouge
    · Lamar Dixon Expo Center
      9030 S. Landry Road, Gonzales
    · Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church
      9700 Scenic Highway, Baton Rouge
    · Southern University, F.G. Clark Activity Center/Arena
      798 Harding Blvd, Baton Rouge



Troopers will be assigned to the DSNAP locations around the clock to provide on-site security, traffic support, and logistical support throughout the duration of the event. Troopers will be working alongside Baton Rouge City Police Officers, East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Deputies, Louisiana Army National Guardsmen, and Wildlife and Fisheries Agents to ensure a safe and efficient operation.

Motorists should be prepared for additional traffic in the areas of the DSNAP sites. Alternate routes should be taken to avoid traffic congestion, especially in the areas around Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, Healing Place Church, and Sam’s Club on Airline Highway. More specific alternate routing information will follow for each of the affected areas.
