Unrestrained Texas Man Dies in Crash

EAST FELICIANA PARISH- Early this morning, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A investigated a single vehicle fatal crash on LA Highway 10 east of LA Highway 961 which claimed the life of a Texas man.

According to investigating Troopers, on October 1, 2012, shortly after midnight, 25-year-old Richard Kennedy Jr. of Austin, TX, was driving a 1996 Chevrolet truck pulling a travel trailer east on LA Highway 10. For reasons still under investigation, Kennedy traveled off the left side of the road and struck several trees. Kennedy, who was unrestrained, was pronounced dead by the East Feliciana Parish Coroner.

It is unknown if Kennedy was impaired when the crash occurred; however, routine toxicology samples have been obtained and will submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.

This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers remind motorists that Louisiana State Law requires that all occupants be properly restrained. While wearing a seat belt will not save you in every crash, statistics show it can greatly reduce your risk of injury in most crashes.
