TROOP A NEWS RELEASE
January 21, 2018
Pedestrian Struck and Killed in West Baton Rouge Parish

Lobdell Shortly after 8:00 pm on January 20, 2018, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single vehicle fatality crash involving a pedestrian on LA 415 south of LA 76 in West Baton Rouge Parish. The crash took the life of 22 year old Jamie Tabolinsky of Denham Springs.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Tabolinsky was walking across LA 415. For unknown reasons, Tabolinsky walked into the path of a northbound 2016 GMC Yukon driven by 56 year old Linda Simoneaux of Port Allen. Tabolinsky was struck by Simoneaux’s vehicle in the right lane of LA 415 northbound.

Tabolinsky sustained fatal injuries a result of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the West Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office. Simoneaux was properly restrained and was not injured. Impairment is not suspected to be a contributing factor in this crash, but a toxicology sample will be taken from Tabolinsky and Simoneaux for analysis.

Troopers urge pedestrians to maintain a heightened level of awareness while walking near the road. Simple precautions such as wearing reflective materials, avoiding distractions, and walking a safe distance from travel lanes while facing oncoming traffic could help prevent many pedestrian related crashes.

Both motorists and pedestrians are urged to call *LSP (*577) to reach the nearest LSP Troop location to report hazardous roadway conditions or request assistance if needed.
