Juvenile Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Crash

Baton Rouge – Shortly after 11:30 am, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single vehicle serious injury crash involving a pedestrian that occurred on LA Hwy 427 (Perkins Rd.) east of LA Hwy 3246 (Siegen Ln.) in East Baton Rouge Parish. The crash seriously injured an 11 year old juvenile male from Baton Rouge.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as 67 year old Philip Mazzaroppi of Prairieville was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on Perkins Rd. At the same time, the juvenile was attempting to walk across the roadway and stepped directly into the path of the Silverado. Mazzaroppi was unable to avoid striking the juvenile, and immediately stopped his vehicle after doing so. The juvenile was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. No charges were filed against Mazzaroppi, and this crash remains under investigation.
