TROOP A NEWS RELEASE March 5, 2013 Unrestrained Driver Killed in East Feliciana Parish Fatal Crash Clinton – This afternoon shortly after 1:30 pm, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred on LA Hwy 67 south of LA Hwy 432 in East Feliciana Parish. The crash took the life of 55 year old Clinton resident Lionel Terrell. The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Terrell was driving a 1998 Honda Civic northbound on LA Hwy 67. For unknown reasons Terrell’s vehicle ran off the roadway to the left. After leaving the roadway, Terrell’s Civic entered a ditch and struck two trees. Terrell was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained fatal injuries from the crash. Driver impairment is unknown at this time; however, Troopers have submitted a toxicology sample from Terrell to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists of the importance of seatbelt use. Louisiana law requires that every person in a motor vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Statistics show that the chances of surviving a violent crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Taking the time to buckle up before every trip is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash. Contact Information: | |||
