Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill has released a list of her major bills for the 2026 Regular Legislative Session to move Louisiana forward. 

This year’s priorities follow her highly successful 2025 legislative package. The effort delivered major policy reforms across multiple areas, including post-conviction relief, electronic ankle monitoring, tracking the costs of illegal immigration, and restricting costly consent decrees — representing significant wins for Louisiana.

"We have made tremendous progress in my first two years as Attorney General combating crime across our state and strengthening Louisiana's sovereignty, but much work remains. My legislative package this session addresses critical issues, including criminalizing the use of artificial intelligence to generate child sexual abuse material, prioritizing American citizens over illegal immigrants, ensuring victims' voices are heard, advancing post-conviction relief reforms, applying RICO charges to predatory online gambling syndicates, authorizing the seizure of vehicles from criminals who flee officers in aggravated circumstances, and more. I am delivering on my promise to you, the people of Louisiana: to protect children and the elderly, put criminals behind bars, and ensure victims are heard. These bills make Louisiana safer and more attractive for families and businesses. Here are the bills:

SB110 by Senator Heather Cloud:

• Criminalizes the creation of computer-generated child sexual abuse materials using artificial intelligence.

HB53 by Representative Bryan Fontenot:

• Adds gambling offenses to the list of predicate crimes under Louisiana’s RICO statute, recognizing the increasing prevalence of internet-based and electronically facilitated gambling operations.
• Allows the AG and DA's to pursue the high-level organizations who use gambling rackets to fund trafficking operations and organized crime.

HB335 by Representative Chance Henry:

• Requires the verification of citizenship status before an individual receives government funds through a non-governmental organization (NGO).
• Evens the playing field for any group receiving federal or state dollars and ensures illegal immigrants do not touch taxpayer dollars.

HB336 by Speaker Pro-Tempore Mike Johnson:

• Expedites the adjudication of post-conviction relief cases by requiring the timely submission of unexhausted claims.

HB51 & HB58 by Representative Debbie Villio:

• Prohibits a judge from granting post-conviction bail for individuals convicted of aggravated offenses against minors. This ensures dangerous offenders remain in jail pending their final sentencing.

HB789 by Representative Jay Galle:

• Permits the seizure of off-road vehicles from criminals who flee from law enforcement.
• Empowers officers to take on these 4-wheeler street gangs terrorizing our neighborhoods.
