"As seen here, there are many ways to constitutionally apply Louisiana law, and I look forward to defending it in court on January 20th. There isn’t a single Supreme Court case holding that the mere display of the 10 Commandments implicates what the Founding Fathers would have understood to be a traditional establishment of religion forbidden by the First Amendment," said Attorney General Liz Murrill.

Back in early October, the Fifth Circuit vacated a previous ruling that declared Louisiana’s Ten Commandments Law unconstitutional. The previous opinion that declared the law unconstitutional was made by a three-judge panel, but now the case will be reheard before the entire court.

Back on October 6, the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals vacated a previous three judge panel opinion ruling Louisiana’s Ten Commandments law unconstitutional. The court will rehear the case en banc (before the entire court) on January 20.
