BATON ROUGE, LA – Attorney General Jeff Landry issued the following statement after a Lincoln Parish Jury, by a unanimous decision on all counts, convicted Cameron Mays on charges of Second Degree Murder, Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Burglary, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, and Unauthorized Use of an Access Card: “My heart breaks for the victim, and I pray the jury’s decision will bring some comfort to her family. I am grateful to my Assistant Attorneys General Michelle Anderson Thompson and Madeleine Slaughter-Young for their prosecutorial work on behalf of our State. My office and I will continue to fight for justice and public safety.” Mays is facing two life sentences based on this jury’s finding of guilt. # Mays is currently serving a life sentence for prior convictions obtained by Attorney General Jeff Landry’s office for Aggravated Rape, Aggravated Kidnapping, and Felony Possession of a Firearm in another horrific 2012 attack against a woman in Lincoln Parish. |
