BATON ROUGE, LA - Attorney General Jeff Landry issued the following statement following the U.S. Senate's confirmation vote of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court:
"I applaud the United States Senate, including Louisiana's Senators, for confirming Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. I also applaud the leadership shown by Senate President McConnell, Judiciary Chairman Grassley, and Majority Whip Cornyn.
The partisan games, delay tactics, and disrespect of now-Justice Kavanaugh were despicable. Instead of uniting the country by highlighting the greatest form of government our world has ever known, some have smeared a good man and divided many more.
I again commend President Trump for nominating an outstanding champion for separation of powers and the limited government that our Founding Fathers envisioned.
I trust that Justice Kavanaugh will continue a truly impeccable judicial career, one that has never been questioned or challenged through all his years as a jurist."
